We are partnering with Alexander & Selena Fiffee, pastors of Rio de Dios, Iglesia Bautista (River of God Baptist Church) in Santiago, Cuba. The passion of Pastor Fiffee and the congregation is to win souls for Christ but with limited space for their congregation to meet the focus of Freedom Church is to enable them to live out their passion while we sponsor the construction of a facility that will serve as both a home for the Fiffee's and a church for the body to attend.
In Cuba, it has become law that all new churches must be attached to the home of the pastor. At this time, the church is meeting in a "covered" porch area off the pastor's home. The first project is to build a house for the Fiffee's. Secondly, the building of the facility that will house the expanding number of believers that worship at Rio de Dios.
While we as Americans are easily distracted by physical needs such as running water, electricity, plumbing, hygiene items, food and transportation, the congregation of Rio de Dios is focused on the mission of the church to "go and make disciples, baptizing and teaching them to obey the commands of Christ". Their limited finances barely covers the necessities and does not leave finances for bibles, literature, or simple craft supplies for the children's ministry.
We at Freedom Church are striving to assist with both the physical and spiritual needs of those being ministered to by the Fiffee's and the church.
